Where is the cytoskeleton located in a cell?

Text SolutionText solutionverified iconVerified

it is located in the cytoplasm and along the cell membrane.
Explanation:
The cytoskeleton is located where the cytoplasm comes into contact with the cell membrane. This gives the greatest possible strength and offers the cell the most protection. (Excess info.) The cytoskeleton is composed of one of two types of structural support tissue: spicules or spongin. Spicules work by forming a structure not unlike a steel framework. This allows for a very strong and durable skeleton that can take almost anything and lasts quite some time. Spongin, on the other hand, is a very flexible structure that is good at taking impact but doesn't last as long as spicules do. As a result, sponging must be replaced every once a while by the cell.
