Given: The capacitance of the capacitor is

60 μ F

The RMS value of the voltage supplied is

110 V

The frequency of the AC supply is

60 Hz

To find: The RMS value of the current.

We know that the impedance of the capacitor is determined by:

X_{C} = \frac{1}{ω C} = \frac{1}{2 π f C} \Rightarrow \frac{1}{2 \times 3.14 \times 60 \times 60 \times 1 0 ^{- 6}}

\Rightarrow 44.2Ω

The RMS value of the current is obtained as

I_{r m s} = \frac{E}{X _{C}} \Rightarrow \frac{110}{44.2} ⟹ 2.49 A
