To compare and contrast: Active and passive membrane transport mechanism. Introduction: A process of the random movement of molecules toward a state of equilibrium is termed as diffusion. Hence, diffusion is a net movement from higher concentrations to lower concentrations. The movement of molecules across the semipermeable membrane is characterized as either active or passive.
