Question asked by Filo student
The liver maintains the concentrations of circulating fuels. The action of glucokinase allows liver to take up excess glucose, which can then be directed to several metabolic fates. The liver also converts fatty acids to ketone bodies and metabolizes amino acids derived from the diet or from protein breakdown. Both the liver and kidney carry out gluconeogenesis.
