Fig. 1 : Signaling molecule formed by the palmitic acid and stearic acid The chemical formula of palmitic acid is CH 3 (CH 2 ) 14 COOH. The chemical formula of stearic acid is CH 3 (CH 2 ) 16 COOH. The fatty acid used to synthesize the given molecule in Fig.1 is palmitate that has esterified to12 hydroxy stearate. Both palmitate and stearate are saturated fatty acids.
