What are ID50 and LD50? What do they measure? Know the five enzymes discussed and what they do. Know the types of exotoxins discussed. You do not have to know what organisms produce the A-B toxin. What does contact inhibition mean in reference to cells? Infected cells. What are cytopathic effects in reference to viruses? Give examples of portals of entrance and exit. What is antigenic variation and how does it add to pathogenicity? Describe the microbial mechanisms of pathogenicity (last slide).
