Question asked by Filo student

Assignment Background and Learning Objectives: The objective of this assignment is to improve understanding of hormonal feedback regulation and control, the change in various hormone levels following an acute bout of exercise, and to understand how the exercise-induced change in hormone concentrations is different between those who are exercise trained and those who are sedentary. Understanding these responses is important because alterations in the hormones featured in this chapter are central to health, metabolism, and many of the beneficial adaptations produced by regular exercise participation. Assignment Overview: Please choose 2 or 3 of the hormones featured in this chapter that influence substrate mobilization during exercise (cortisol, growth hormone, insulin, glucagon, etc.) and do the following: 1. Outline the hormonal secretion control response including positive input, negative input, and effects on substrate mobilization during exercise. 2. Describe how an acute bout of exercise alters circulating levels of this hormone, and how this change is different between exercise trained and sedentary individuals. 3. For the hormones you've chosen to discuss, theorize why it is physiologically advantageous that in trained individuals the acute exercise response is different than in those who are sedentary.
