Archimedes principle states that when a body is wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, it appears to suffer a loss in weight equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces.
Hence, when a solid block is fully immersed in water, the volume of the water is equal to the volume of the block as the density of water is unity in cgs.
