Class 10 Science Biology Heredity and Evolution

A pea plant with blue color flower by is cross-bred with a pea plant with white flower denoted by .
a) What is the expected color of the flowers in their F progeny?
b) What will be the percentage of plants bearing white flower in F generation, when the flowers of F plants were selfed?
c) State the expected ratio of the genotype and in the F progeny?
Solution:
The cross can be represented as shown in the figure.
a) The color of flowers in progeny is blue.
b) The phenotypic ratio of blue and white flowers in generation is 3 : 1
So, percentage of plants bearing white flowers in generation = 1/4 x 100 = 25%
c) The ratio of genotype BB and Bw in F2 progeny: 1: 2
