or hydrogen peroxide acts as a strong oxidizing agent both in acidic and basic media. When added to a cloth, it breaks the chemical bonds of the chromophores (colour producing agents). Hence, the visible light is not absorbed and the cloth gets whitened.
Lead (II) trioxocarbonate (IV) in white Lead (II) paint is converted to lead (II) Sulphide by atmospheric Hydrogen Sulphide. This reaction darkens the colour of the Paint. Hydrogen Peroxide is added to the Paint to restore the colour where it oxidizes the Lead (II) Sulphide to Lead (II) tetraoxosulphate (VI).
When is oxidized by then ethane - - diol or ethylene glycol forms by addition reaction.
In has two equivalent central atoms - in this case, they're both bent. Since the atoms do not all lie in the same plane, the dipoles don't cancel each other out. So, the molecule is polar and non-planar.
