Text solutionVerified
The atrial wall of the hear secretes a peptide hormone called the Atrial Natriuretic Factor (ANF).
- It is released when the blood pressure increases
- It has one major function, to decrease the blood pressure.
- It achieves this by two methods; vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and by acting on kidneys to eliminate excess sodium through urine.
- Elimination of excess sodium decreases the blood volume and thus reduces the blood pressure.
