Self-reduction happens in Bessemer converter reaction as

2 F e S + 3 O_{2} \to ­2 F e O + 2 S O_{2}

C u_{2} O + F e S \to C u_{2} S + F e O

F e O + S i O_{2} \to F e S i O_{3}

(removed as slag)

2 C u_{2} S + 3 O_{2} \to 2 C u_{2} O + S O_{2}

self reduction:

C u_{2} S + 2 C u_{2} O \to ­6 C u + S O_{2}

self-reduction takes place in the case of Copper.
