The NEET Exam is just around the corner and students are preparing for it. I’ve seen a lot of them stressed out, so this blog post is going to be about how to strategically prepare for the NEET 2021 exam. Strategic preparation means spending time on what matters most and avoiding wasting your energy and valuable time on things that have no or little value in terms of NEET 2021 exam scores. If you want your dream college or a good job in a hospital, here are some key insights for you!
Since there is about a week left for the exam (As of writing this article). We will focus on how to study smarter and achieve a good score. Let’s say, the key is a four-step process for NEET Preparation.
We created a strategy called SPTR. It stands for Segregate. Prioritize. Test. Revise. We will use this strategy to crack down on the NEET exam along with expert vetted processes. We will also look at what tutors have to say on how to prepare for NEET.
Moving on to the SPTR Framework….
Step 1: Segregate the Syllabus
The first step in strategic preparation is understanding the syllabus and what topics will be tested on. Doing that will help you plan accordingly when it comes to time management and what areas you should focus more on during the prep phase.

Once you have your entire syllabus sorted, You are ready for the next step and this is to Prioritize.
Step 2: Prioritize What Needs To Be Learnt!
The next step is to strategically study for the NEET exam and since we have the entire syllabus sorted out, we definitely need to prioritize our revision strategy. Not all chapters in NEET are weighted equally, some topics have a much more chance of getting in the paper when compared to the other sections.
We asked some of our tutors, “What are the sure-shot chapters and topics that need to be at your fingertips for NEET?”, we’ve hence compiled the following list of important topics for NEET Preparation.
7 General Tips From Tutors:
- NCERT is your go-to bible for NEET. Several if not all questions come from NCERT textbooks.
- Solving previous year papers is also a good way to ensure you are confident with the exam pattern of NEET. The pattern has a slight change in this year and it has been covered in the following post:
- Give an exam between 2-5pm while revising to get your body clock adjusted towards maximum performance.
- Attempt all questions you know first and if a question takes time to solve, move ahead and come back on it later.
- Try to solve numerical problems, especially for Physics. Memorize formulas.
- Physics and Chemistry is more calculation intensive while Biology focuses more on memory retention of topics. So prepare your mind appropriately to tackle these subjects based on what they demand.
- Prepare notes while you study which you can look at while you revise for your NEET Preparation.
3 Subject-wise Tips From Tutors:
- Physics:
Physics is the most complicated part of NEET preparation as per students. It doesn’t necessarily have to be that way. Our Filo Tutor Saifi Karim recommends prioritizing the following topics:
- Modern Physics
- Magnetism
- AC
- EMI
- Thermodynamics
- Work & Energy
- Waves
- Rotational Mechanics
- Mechanics ( Try to finish other topics before attempting mechanics as this is time consuming )

- Chemistry:

- Biology:

Step 3: Test Yourself! Not Once, Continuously!
The next phase is to test your knowledge and unsurprisingly, this is where you know how thorough you are with your study progress. It also goes without saying that this is not a one-stop check that you mark as complete and move forward, rather it’s an ongoing process repeated over time and the more you do, the better you get at it.

Step 4: Revise!
Finally, revise! Nothing fancy to write about revising other than that its absolutely important like all previous steps above. Revision is the key to having a good depth of knowledge. This is what separates the best students from the average ones. Unless you’re Michael Ross from the Suits or Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory, chances are that you won’t retain everything you see once. So keep revising!
