IIT JEE Advanced 2022 is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for undergraduate admission in engineering and architecture courses across India. It primarily consists of two phases: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Mains is the preliminary phase of the examination that not only provides admission to candidates in government engineering colleges but also allows the qualified candidates to sit for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced, as the second and the final phase of the exam, is conducted for entry into premier engineering colleges across India such as IITs, IISC, and IIST etc. The exam is conducted by one of the seven ‘old’ IITs annually under the guidance of Joint Admission Board. In 2021, it was conducted by IIT Kharagpur. And in 2022-23, it will be conducted by IIT Bombay and Guwahati.

IIT JEE Advanced : Important Facts 

Eligibility for IIT JEE Advanced 2022

Performance – Applicants must rank among the top 2,50,000 candidates in Paper-1 of JEE Main vis-à-vis category-wise breakdown. Notably, only 50% seats are open to all and the rest are reserved for other special categories.

Age limit – Applicant should have been born on or after 1st October 1997. A five year age relaxation is provided to reserved category candidates.

Number of attempts – An applicant can attempt JEE Advanced maximum of two times in two consecutive years.

Qualification – An applicant should have qualified Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2022 from a recognized board/university. It is mandatory for the candidate to have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) as intermediary subjects.

 Nationality – Indian citizens, as well as OCI/PIO card holders (in other words, foreign nationals) are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2022.

IIT JEE Advanced: Application Fee

While the application and registration process is conducted through online mode, applicants can submit fee via both online and offline modes. Notably, the application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Additionally, it differs for national and foreign national in the following manner:

IIT JEE Advanced 2022 Important Dates

NOTE – These dates are tentative and not final. We’ll update the official dates as soon as NTA releases it’s notification. 

After the declaration of JEE Advanced 2022 results, counseling rounds will take place throughout the month of July.

For Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT), the registration will tentatively start in the 2nd week of July, 2022 and the exam will be held in 3rd week of July, 2022. Subsequently, the seat allotment process will begin and continue through the month of July.

Academic Programmes

Through JEE (Advanced), IITs provide admission into undergraduate courses ranging from- Bachelor’s Degree to Integrated Bachelor-Master Degree in Engineering, Sciences and Architecture. The offered courses will be officially announced at the time of seat allocation. Other than IIT, institutes such as IIPE, IISER, IISc, IIST and RGIPT have also utilized the JEE Advanced ranking for admissions in the past.

Both the results and cut-offs for JEE Advanced are released via online mode. All the qualified applicants will be further required to participate in the counseling process, as conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
