All IELTS examinations are taken on the same day, with no gaps in between the Listening, Reading, and Writing components.

However, the Speaking component can be done up to one week before or after the other examinations. It takes 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete the test.

IELTS Exam Pattern for Listening Description:

The paper is divided into four sections, each of which has 10 questions. The answers appear in the same sequence as they are heard in the audio.

  • The first two sections focus on events that occur in ordinary social settings. 
  • Answering: As they listen, test takers write their responses on the question paper, and they have 10 minutes to transfer their answers to an answer sheet at the end of the test.
  • Timing: 30 minutes approx and also extra 10 minutes transfer time.
  • Total Questions Offered: 40 questions

Note: Poor spelling and grammar will be penalized if you write your responses on the answer sheet. 1 mark for each question.
