Gravitropism is the movement of a plant according to the force of gravity if the plant moves in the direction of gravity then it is said to be positive geotropism and if not then its negative geotropism. The plant when laid on its side and the cells of the lower stem will grow towards and the elongate so that they can grow upwards, this is all due to the stimulus. The force of gravity ensures that roots grow into soil towards downward direction while stems have grown upwards towards sunlight.
