There are various demerits of cloning:

(i) The cloning of animals is considered as unethical process because the live organisms are produced.

(ii) The clone can result in activities which can be harmful to the environment.

(iii) This process does not introduce variations in the organisms.

(iv) The cloned organism possess the same problems like that of the parent organism.

(v) Cloning may lead to wastage of cells which are used for the process.

(vi) Cloned animals are produced from somatic cells and may have health related problems and die at early age.
